Proverbs 11 - Simple English

OriginalSimple EnglishSimpleNew Summary

Read Proverbs Chapter 11

Up and down arrows move from one verse to the next.

A dishonest scale is hateful to the LORD, but an honest weight is his delight.

When pride comes, shame comes with it, but wisdom is with the humble.

The honesty of the upright will guide them, but the crookedness of wrongdoers will destroy them.

Riches are no help in the day of wrath, but righteousness rescues from death.

The righteousness of the blameless will make his way straight, but the wicked will fall by his own wickedness.

The righteousness of the upright will rescue them, but wrongdoers will be caught by their own evil desire.

When a wicked man dies, what he looked for dies too, and the hope of unjust men comes to nothing.

The righteous is brought safely out of trouble, and the wicked comes into it instead.

A hypocrite destroys his neighbour with his mouth, but through knowledge the just will be rescued.

When things go well for the righteous, the city is glad, and when the wicked die, there is shouting.

By the blessing of the upright the city is lifted high, but the mouth of the wicked tears it down.

The one with no wisdom looks down on his neighbour, but a man of understanding keeps quiet.

A gossip tells secrets, but a faithful person keeps the matter hidden.

Where there is no guidance, the people fall, but with many advisers there is safety.

Whoever promises to pay a stranger's debt will suffer for it, but whoever hates making such promises is safe.

A gracious woman keeps her honour, and strong men keep their riches.

The merciful man does good to his own soul, but the cruel man brings trouble on his own flesh.

The wicked man does work that deceives, but the one who sows righteousness will have a sure reward.

As righteousness leads to life, so the one who chases evil chases his own death.

People with twisted hearts are hateful to the LORD, but those whose way is upright are his delight.

Be sure of this: the wicked will not go unpunished, but the children of the righteous will be rescued.

Like a gold ring in a pig's snout is a beautiful woman who has no sense.

What the righteous long for is only good, but what the wicked can expect is wrath.

One person gives freely, and yet gains more; another holds back more than is right, and comes to poverty.

The generous soul will be made rich, and the one who gives water will himself be given water.

The people curse the man who holds back his grain, but blessing rests on the head of the one who sells it.

The one who carefully seeks good gains favour, but the one who looks for harm, harm will come to him.

The one who trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will flourish like a green branch.

The one who brings trouble on his own house will inherit the wind, and the fool will be servant to the wise in heart.

The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and the one who wins souls is wise.

Look, the righteous will be repaid on the earth; how much more the wicked and the sinner.
