But Jesus said to them, "Do you see all these things? I tell you the truth, not one stone here will be left on top of another. Every one will be thrown down."
As he sat on the mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. They said, "Tell us, when will these things happen? And what will be the sign of your coming, and of the end of the world?"
Jesus answered them, "Be careful that no one deceives you."
"For many will come using my name. They will say, 'I am Christ,' and they will deceive many."
"You will hear of wars and reports of wars. See that you are not troubled. All these things must happen, but the end is not yet."
"Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and plagues and earthquakes in many places."
"All these are the beginning of sorrows."
"Then they will hand you over to be hurt, and they will kill you. All nations will hate you because of my name."
"Then many will fall away. They will betray one another and hate one another."
"Many false prophets will rise up, and they will deceive many."
"Because evil will increase, the love of many will grow cold."
"But the one who holds out to the end will be saved."
"And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world, as a witness to all nations. Then the end will come."
"So when you see the abomination of desolation, which Daniel the prophet spoke about, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand),"
"then let those who are in Judaea run away to the mountains."
"The one who is on the roof must not go down to take anything out of his house."
"And the one who is in the field must not turn back to get his clothes."
"How terrible it will be in those days for women who are pregnant, and for those who are nursing babies."
"Pray that you will not have to run away in the winter, or on the sabbath day."
"For then there will be great trouble, worse than any since the beginning of the world until now. No, and there never will be again."
"If those days were not cut short, no one at all would be saved. But for the sake of the chosen ones, those days will be cut short."
"Then if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is Christ,' or 'There he is,' do not believe it."
"For false Christs and false prophets will rise up. They will show great signs and wonders, so that, if it were possible, they would deceive even the chosen ones."
"Look, I have told you ahead of time."
"So if they say to you, 'Look, he is in the desert,' do not go out. Or, 'Look, he is in the inner rooms,' do not believe it."
"For as the lightning comes out of the east and shines as far as the west, so the coming of the Son of man will be."
"For wherever the dead body is, there the eagles will gather."
"Straight after the trouble of those days, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give her light. The stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken."
"Then the sign of the Son of man will appear in heaven. Then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory."
"He will send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet. They will gather his chosen ones from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other."
"Now learn a parable from the fig tree. When its branch is soft and puts out leaves, you know that summer is near."
"In the same way, when you see all these things, know that it is near, right at the doors."
"I tell you the truth, this generation will not pass away until all these things have happened."
"Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away."
"But no one knows that day and hour. No, not the angels of heaven, but only my Father."
"As the days of Noe were, so will the coming of the Son of man be."
"For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe went into the ark."
"They did not know anything until the flood came and took them all away. So will the coming of the Son of man be."
"Then two men will be in the field. One will be taken and the other left."
"Two women will be grinding at the mill. One will be taken and the other left."
"So keep watch, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming."
"But know this: if the master of the house had known at what time of night the thief would come, he would have kept watch. He would not have let his house be broken into."
"So you must be ready too, for the Son of man is coming at an hour when you do not expect him."
"Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his master has put in charge of his household, to give them their food at the right time?"
"Blessed is that servant whose master finds him doing so when he comes."
"I tell you the truth, he will put him in charge of all his goods."
"But suppose that evil servant says in his heart, 'My master is taking a long time to come,'"
"and begins to beat his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards."
"The master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him, and at an hour he does not know about."
"He will cut him in pieces and give him his place with the hypocrites. There will be weeping and grinding of teeth."
