1The LORD spoke to Moses and said,
2"Speak to the children of Israel and say to them, 'I am the LORD your God.'"
3"You must not do as they do in the land of Egypt, where you lived. You must not do as they do in the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you. Do not follow their rules."
4"You shall do what I have decided and keep my rules, and live by them. I am the LORD your God."
5"So you shall keep my laws and my judgments. If a man does them, he shall live by them. I am the LORD."
6"None of you shall come near to any close relative of his to uncover their nakedness. I am the LORD."
7"You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father, or the nakedness of your mother. She is your mother. You shall not uncover her nakedness."
8"You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father's wife. It is your father's nakedness."
9"You shall not uncover the nakedness of your sister, the daughter of your father or the daughter of your mother, whether she was born at home or born away from home."
10"You shall not uncover the nakedness of your son's daughter or of your daughter's daughter, for their nakedness is your own."
11"You shall not uncover the nakedness of the daughter of your father's wife, born to your father. She is your sister."
12"You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father's sister. She is your father's close relative."
13"You shall not uncover the nakedness of your mother's sister, for she is your mother's close relative."
14"You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father's brother. You shall not come near his wife. She is your aunt."
15"You shall not uncover the nakedness of your daughter-in-law. She is your son's wife. You shall not uncover her nakedness."
16"You shall not uncover the nakedness of your brother's wife. It is your brother's nakedness."
17"You shall not uncover the nakedness of a woman and her daughter. You shall not take her son's daughter or her daughter's daughter, to uncover her nakedness, for they are her close relatives. It is wickedness."
18"You shall not take a woman as a rival to her sister, to uncover her nakedness while her sister is still alive."
19"You shall not come near a woman to uncover her nakedness while she is set apart because she is unclean."
20"You shall not have sexual relations with your neighbour's wife, and so make yourself unclean with her."
21"You shall not let any of your children pass through the fire to Molech. You shall not treat the name of your God as common. I am the LORD."
22"You shall not lie with a man as with a woman. It is a hateful thing."
23"You shall not lie with any animal and make yourself unclean with it. No woman shall stand before an animal to lie down with it. It is a perversion."
24"Do not make yourselves unclean in any of these ways. The nations that I am driving out before you made themselves unclean in all these ways,"
25"and the land is unclean. So I punish it for its sin, and the land itself vomits out those who live in it."
26"So you shall keep my laws and my judgments, and you shall not do any of these hateful things, neither one of your own people nor any stranger who lives among you."
27"(For the men of the land who were there before you did all these hateful things, and the land became unclean.)"
28"Then the land will not vomit you out also, when you make it unclean, as it vomited out the nations that were there before you."
29"For whoever does any of these hateful things, those who do them shall be cut off from among their people."
30"So you shall keep my rule, and not follow any of these hateful customs that were followed before you came, and you shall not make yourselves unclean by them. I am the LORD your God."
