John 10 - Summary

Original Summary

Read John Chapter 10 Summary

The Good Shepherd discourse presents Jesus as the door of the sheep through whom alone salvation comes and as the shepherd who knows His sheep by name, lays down His life for them, and has other sheep not of this fold to bring. Jesus declares His authority to lay down His life and take it up again, received as a command from His Father, which causes further division among the Jews. At the Feast of Dedication, Jesus' claim that He and the Father are one provokes another attempt to stone Him for blasphemy, though He defends His claim from Scripture and escapes across the Jordan where John first baptized.
