1 Samuel 19 - Summary

Saul commands Jonathan and servants to kill David, but Jonathan warns David and intercedes, reminding Saul how David killed Goliath and saved Israel; Saul swears David will not be put to death. After another victory, the harmful spirit comes on Saul and he hurls his spear at David, who escapes home; Michal helps David flee through a window, putting household gods in the bed to delay pursuit. David flees to Samuel at Ramah; when Saul sends messengers to Naioth, the Spirit of God comes upon them and they prophesy; this happens to three groups, then to Saul himself, who strips his clothes, prophesies before Samuel, and lies naked all day and night—reviving the proverb, 'Is Saul also among the prophets?'
