Titus 1 - Summary

Paul, a servant of God and apostle of Jesus Christ, addresses Titus his true child in the common faith, whom he left in Crete to set in order what remains and appoint elders in every city according to Paul's directions. He specifies elder qualifications (blameless, husband of one wife, children who believe, not self-willed or quick-tempered, hospitable, lover of good, sensible, just, holy, self-controlled, holding fast the faithful word) because of many rebellious men, especially of the circumcision, whose mouths must be stopped as they overturn whole households for dishonest gain.
