Up and down arrows move from one verse to the next.

After this I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power. The earth was made bright with his glory.

He called out with a mighty voice, "Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen. She has become a home for devils, a hiding place for every foul spirit, and a cage for every unclean and hateful bird."

"For all nations have drunk the wine of the wrath of her sexual sin. The kings of the earth have joined in that sin with her, and the merchants of the earth have grown rich from her great luxury."

Then I heard another voice from heaven say, "Come out of her, my people. Do not share in her sins, and do not receive any of her plagues."

For her sins have piled up as high as heaven, and God has remembered her evil deeds.

Pay her back as she paid others, and give her double for what she has done. In the cup she filled, mix her a double share.

As much as she gave glory to herself and lived in luxury, give her that much torment and sorrow. For she says in her heart, 'I sit as a queen. I am no widow, and I will never see sorrow.'

"So her plagues will come in one day: death, and mourning, and famine. She will be burned up completely with fire. For strong is the Lord God who judges her."

The kings of the earth, who joined in her sexual sin and lived in luxury with her, will weep and wail over her when they see the smoke of her burning.

They will stand far off, afraid of her torment, and say, "Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city. In one hour your judgment has come."

The merchants of the earth will weep and mourn over her, because no one buys their goods any more:

goods of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet; all kinds of thyine wood, and every sort of object made of ivory, and every sort made of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble;

and cinnamon, and spices, and perfumes, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and cattle, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and the souls of men.

"The fruit your soul longed for has gone from you. All the rich and beautiful things are gone from you, and you will never find them again."

The merchants who sold these things and grew rich from her will stand far off, afraid of her torment, weeping and wailing

and saying, "Alas, alas, that great city, dressed in fine linen and purple and scarlet, and covered with gold and precious stones and pearls."

"In one hour such great riches have come to nothing." And every ship's captain, and all who travel by ship, and the sailors, and all who make their living on the sea stood far off

and cried out when they saw the smoke of her burning, "What city was ever like this great city?"

They threw dust on their heads and cried out, weeping and wailing, "Alas, alas, that great city. All who had ships on the sea grew rich from her great wealth. In one hour she has been made a desert."

Rejoice over her, you heaven, and you holy apostles and prophets. For God has given you justice against her.

Then a mighty angel picked up a stone like a great millstone and threw it into the sea, saying, "With such violence will that great city Babylon be thrown down, and she will never be found again."

The sound of harpists and musicians, of flute players and trumpeters, will never be heard in you again. No craftsman of any craft will ever be found in you again. The sound of a millstone will never be heard in you again.

The light of a lamp will never shine in you again. The voice of the bridegroom and the bride will never be heard in you again. For your merchants were the great men of the earth, and by your sorceries all the nations were deceived.

"And in her was found the blood of prophets and of saints, and of all who were killed on the earth."
