And I saw a beast come up out of the sea. It had seven heads and ten horns, and on its horns were ten crowns, and on its heads a name of blasphemy.
The beast I saw was like a leopard. Its feet were like the feet of a bear, and its mouth like the mouth of a lion. And the dragon gave it his power, and his throne, and great authority.
And I saw one of its heads as if it had been wounded to death. But its deadly wound was healed, and the whole world was amazed and followed the beast.
And they worshipped the dragon, who gave power to the beast. And they worshipped the beast, saying, "Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?"
And it was given a mouth that spoke great things and blasphemies. And power was given to it to continue forty and two months.
And it opened its mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and those who live in heaven.
And it was given power to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And power was given to it over all families, and languages, and nations.
And all who live on the earth shall worship it, all whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb, who was slain from the foundation of the world.
If anyone has an ear, let him hear.
Whoever leads into captivity shall go into captivity. Whoever kills with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.
And I saw another beast coming up out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb, and it spoke like a dragon.
And it uses all the power of the first beast in front of him. And it makes the earth and those who live on it worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
And it does great wonders, so that it makes fire come down from heaven onto the earth where people can see it.
And it deceives those who live on the earth by the miracles it was given power to do in the sight of the beast. It tells those who live on the earth to make an image of the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and lived.
And it had power to give life to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause all who would not worship the image of the beast to be killed.
And it makes everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads,
so that no one could buy or sell except the one who had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of its name.
Here is wisdom. Let the one who has understanding count the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. And his number is Six hundred threescore and six.
