Read Psalms Chapter 80

For the leader of the music, to the tune called Shoshannim-eduth. A psalm of Asaph.

Up and down arrows move from one verse to the next.

Listen, O Shepherd of Israel, you who lead Joseph like a flock. You who sit between the cherubim, shine out.

In front of Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, stir up your strength. Come and save us.

Turn us back again, O God. Make your face shine on us, and we shall be saved.

O LORD God of hosts, how long will you be angry against the prayer of your people?

You feed them with the bread of tears. You give them tears to drink in great measure.

You make us something for our neighbours to quarrel over, and our enemies laugh among themselves.

Turn us back again, O God of hosts. Make your face shine on us, and we shall be saved.

You brought a vine out of Egypt. You drove out the nations, and planted it.

You made room before it. You made it take deep root, and it filled the land.

The hills were covered with its shadow, and its boughs were like the fine cedars.

She sent out her boughs to the sea, and her branches to the river.

Why then have you broken down her hedges, so that everyone who passes by picks her fruit?

The boar out of the wood ruins it, and the wild beast of the field eats it up.

Return, we beg you, O God of hosts. Look down from heaven, and see, and come to this vine,

and to the vineyard which your right hand has planted, and to the branch that you made strong for yourself.

It is burned with fire, it is cut down. They perish at the rebuke of your face.

Let your hand be upon the man of your right hand, upon the son of man whom you made strong for yourself.

Then we will not turn back from you. Give us life, and we will call on your name.

Turn us back again, O LORD God of hosts. Make your face shine on us, and we shall be saved.
