OriginalSimple EnglishSimpleNew Summary

Read Psalms Chapter 52

For the leader of the music. A psalm of David for instruction and reflection, written when Doeg from Edom came and told Saul that David had gone to the house of Ahimelech.

Up and down arrows move from one verse to the next.

1Why do you boast about evil, you mighty man? The goodness of God lasts all day long.

2Your tongue plans ways to harm. It is like a sharp razor, working deceit.

3You love evil more than good, and lying more than speaking righteousness. Selah.

4You love every word that destroys, you deceitful tongue.

5God will also destroy you for ever. He will take you away, and pull you out of your home, and root you out of the land of the living. Selah.

6The righteous will see it, and fear, and they will laugh at him:

7"Look, this is the man who did not make God his strength. He trusted in his great riches, and made himself strong in his wickedness."

8But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God. I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever.

9I will praise you for ever, because you have done it. And I will wait on your name, for it is good before your saints.
