Have mercy on me, O God, because of your steadfast love. Because of your many tender mercies, wipe away my wrongs.
Wash me completely from my guilt, and make me clean from my sin.
For I admit the wrongs I have done, and my sin is always before me.
Against you, you only, have I sinned, and done this evil in your sight. So you are right when you speak, and clear when you judge.
Look, I was formed in guilt, and in sin my mother conceived me.
Look, you want truth in the inward parts, and in the hidden part you will teach me wisdom.
Cleanse me with hyssop, and I shall be clean. Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Let me hear joy and gladness, so that the bones you have broken may rejoice.
Hide your face from my sins, and wipe away all my guilt.
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and make a right spirit new within me.
Do not throw me away from your presence, and do not take your holy spirit from me.
Give me back the joy of your salvation, and hold me up with your free spirit.
Then I will teach those who do wrong your ways, and sinners will turn back to you.
Save me from the guilt of blood, O God, the God who saves me. Then my tongue will sing aloud of your righteousness.
O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will show your praise.
For you do not want sacrifice, or I would give it. You take no delight in burnt offering.
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit. A broken and sorrowful heart, O God, you will not despise.
In your good pleasure do good to Zion. Build the walls of Jerusalem.
Then you will be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering. Then they will offer bulls on your altar.
