Read Psalms Chapter 50

A psalm of Asaph.

Up and down arrows move from one verse to the next.

The mighty God, the LORD, has spoken. He has called the earth, from the rising of the sun to its going down.

Out of Zion, perfect in beauty, God has shone.

Our God will come, and he will not keep silent. A fire will burn up everything before him, and a great storm will rage around him.

He will call to the heavens above, and to the earth, so that he may judge his people.

"Gather my holy ones to me, those who have made a covenant with me by sacrifice."

And the heavens will declare his righteousness, for God himself is judge. Selah.

"Hear, my people, and I will speak. Israel, I will testify against you. I am God, your God."

I will not blame you for your sacrifices or your burnt offerings, which have always been before me.

I will take no bull out of your house, nor male goats out of your pens.

For every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills.

I know all the birds of the mountains, and the wild animals of the field are mine.

If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for the world is mine, and everything in it.

Will I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats?

Offer thanksgiving to God, and pay your vows to the Most High.

"Call on me in the day of trouble. I will rescue you, and you will give me glory."

But to the wicked God says, "What right have you to speak of my laws, or to take my covenant on your lips?"

For you hate instruction, and you throw my words behind you.

When you saw a thief, you agreed with him, and you have shared with adulterers.

You give your mouth to evil, and your tongue shapes lies.

You sit and speak against your brother. You slander your own mother's son.

These things you have done, and I kept silent. You thought that I was just like you. But I will rebuke you, and set them in order before your eyes.

Now think about this, you who forget God, or I will tear you in pieces, and there will be no one to rescue you.

"Whoever offers praise gives me glory. And to the one who orders his conduct rightly I will show the salvation of God."
