My heart is stirred by a good thing. I speak the verses I have made for the king. My tongue is the pen of a skilled writer.
You are more beautiful than any other man. Grace is poured onto your lips. So God has blessed you for ever.
Strap your sword on your thigh, O mighty one, with your glory and your majesty.
In your majesty ride out and win, for the sake of truth and meekness and righteousness. Your right hand will teach you terrible things.
Your arrows are sharp in the heart of the king's enemies. The peoples fall beneath you.
Your throne, O God, is for ever and ever. The sceptre of your kingdom is a sceptre of justice.
You love righteousness and hate wickedness. So God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness more than those beside you.
All your clothes smell of myrrh and aloes and cassia. Out of the ivory palaces music has made you glad.
Kings' daughters are among your women of honour. At your right hand stands the queen in gold from Ophir.
Listen, daughter, and think, and turn your ear to me. Forget your own people, and your father's house.
Then the king will greatly desire your beauty. He is your Lord, so bow down before him.
The daughter of Tyre will be there with a gift. Even the rich among the people will beg for your favour.
The king's daughter is all glorious within. Her clothing is woven with gold.
She will be led to the king in embroidered robes. The virgins who are her friends and follow her will be brought to you.
With gladness and rejoicing they will be brought. They will enter the king's palace.
In place of your fathers you will have children, and you may make them princes in all the earth.
I will make your name remembered in every generation. So the peoples will praise you for ever and ever.
