For the leader of the music, to be played with stringed instruments. A psalm of David.

Up and down arrows move from one verse to the next.

Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness. You gave me room when I was in distress. Have mercy on me, and hear my prayer.

You sons of men, how long will you turn my glory into shame? How long will you love what is empty, and go after lies? Selah.

But know that the LORD has set apart the godly man for himself. The LORD will hear when I call to him.

Stand in awe, and do not sin. Talk with your own heart on your bed, and be still. Selah.

Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD.

There are many who say, "Who will show us any good?" LORD, lift up the light of your face upon us.

You have put gladness in my heart, more than when their grain and their wine increased.

I will lie down in peace, and sleep. For you alone, LORD, make me live in safety.
