Read Psalms Chapter 142

A psalm of David, for instruction and reflection. A prayer written when he was in the cave.

Up and down arrows move from one verse to the next.

1I cried out to the LORD with my voice; with my voice I begged the LORD for help.

2I poured out my complaint before him; I told him about my trouble.

3When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, you knew my path. On the road where I walked they have hidden a trap for me.

4I looked on my right hand and saw, but there was no one who would know me. There was no refuge for me; no one cared for my soul.

5I cried to you, O LORD. I said, "You are my refuge, and my portion in the land of the living."

6Listen to my cry, for I am brought very low. Rescue me from those who chase me, for they are stronger than I am.

7Bring my soul out of prison, so that I may praise your name. The righteous will gather around me, for you will deal generously with me.
