Philippians 2 - Summary

Paul appeals for unity and humility, presenting Christ's self-emptying (kenosis) as the supreme example: though in the form of God, He did not grasp equality but emptied Himself, taking a servant's form, humbling Himself unto death on a cross, wherefore God highly exalted Him with the name above every name. Paul urges working out salvation with fear and trembling as God works within, commends Timothy's proven character and Epaphroditus's near-fatal illness in service, and hopes to send both while expecting to come himself shortly.
