Philippians 1 - Summary

Paul and Timothy address the saints at Philippi with their bishops and deacons, expressing thanksgiving for their gospel partnership from the first day and confidence that God will complete His good work in them. Writing from imprisonment, Paul rejoices that his chains have advanced the gospel, desires to depart and be with Christ (which is far better) yet recognizes remaining in the flesh is more needful for them, and exhorts them to conduct worthy of the gospel, standing firm in one spirit against adversaries.
