And I said, "Listen, I ask you, leaders of Jacob, and you rulers of the house of Israel. Is it not your business to know what is just?"
You hate what is good, and you love what is evil. You tear the skin off my people, and the flesh off their bones.
"You eat the flesh of my people. You strip off their skin. You break their bones and chop them up, like meat for the pot, like flesh inside the cauldron."
Then they will cry out to the LORD, but he will not answer them. At that time he will hide his face from them, because of the evil they have done.
This is what the LORD says about the prophets who lead my people astray. When they have something to bite with their teeth, they cry, "Peace." But if a man puts nothing in their mouths, they get ready for war against him.
So night will come over you, and you will have no vision. It will be dark for you, and you will not be able to tell what is coming. The sun will go down over the prophets, and the day will turn dark over them.
Then those who see visions will be ashamed, and those who tell the future will be put to shame. They will all cover their lips, for there is no answer from God.
But I am truly full of power by the Spirit of the LORD, and full of justice and strength, to tell Jacob his wrongdoing, and Israel his sin.
Listen to this, I ask you, you leaders of the house of Jacob, and rulers of the house of Israel. You hate what is just, and you twist everything that is fair.
They build up Zion with blood, and Jerusalem with wrongdoing.
Her leaders judge for a bribe. Her priests teach for a price. Her prophets tell the future for money. Yet they lean on the LORD and say, "Is not the LORD among us? No evil can come upon us."
So because of you, Zion will be plowed like a field, and Jerusalem will become heaps of ruins, and the mountain of the house will be like the high places of the forest.
