The parable of the talents depicts the master entrusting varying amounts to servants, rewarding the faithful who multiply them while condemning the fearful servant who buried his single talent to outer darkness. The judgment of the nations presents the Son of Man on His glorious throne separating sheep from goats based on their treatment of 'the least of these my brethren'—feeding the hungry, welcoming strangers, clothing the naked, visiting the sick and imprisoned—with eternal destinies hanging on these acts of mercy.
