Matthew 11 - Summary

Original Summary

Read Matthew Chapter 11 Summary

John the Baptist, imprisoned by Herod, sends disciples to inquire whether Jesus is indeed the Coming One, receiving in response a catalogue of messianic signs—the blind seeing, lame walking, lepers cleansed, deaf hearing, dead raised, and poor receiving good news. Jesus eulogizes John as the greatest born of women yet declares the least in the kingdom greater still, while pronouncing woes upon the unrepentant cities of Chorazin, Bethsaida, and Capernaum despite their privileged witness of His mighty works. The chapter concludes with Jesus' thanksgiving for divine revelation to babes rather than the wise, His unique mutual knowledge with the Father, and the gracious invitation to the weary and heavy-laden to find rest in His gentle and lowly yoke.
