Leviticus 12 - Summary

Original Summary

Read Leviticus Chapter 12 Summary

Childbirth renders a woman ceremonially unclean: seven days for a male child followed by thirty-three days of purification, doubled for a female. During her impurity she must not touch holy things or enter the sanctuary until completing the prescribed period. Purification requires a burnt offering and sin offering, with provision for the poor to substitute birds, after which she is ceremonially clean.
