James 1 - Summary

James, servant of God and the Lord Jesus Christ, writes to the twelve tribes scattered abroad, exhorting them to count trials as joy since the testing of faith produces patience leading to maturity. Those lacking wisdom should ask God, who gives generously without reproach, but must ask in unwavering faith lest they receive nothing as double-minded people. The rich are warned that their glory fades like flower of grass, while those enduring temptation will receive the crown of life; temptation comes not from God but from one's own desires, while every good gift descends from the Father of lights who begot us by the word of truth.
