Hebrews 13 - Simple English

OriginalSimple EnglishSimpleNew Summary

Read Hebrews Chapter 13

Up and down arrows move from one verse to the next.

Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters.

Do not forget to welcome strangers into your home. By doing this, some people have welcomed angels without knowing it.

Remember those who are in prison, as if you were in prison with them. Remember those who are badly treated, since you also have a body.

Marriage should be honoured by everyone, and the marriage bed kept pure. But God will judge those who are sexually immoral and those who commit adultery.

Do not let your way of life be greedy for money. Be content with what you have. For God has said, "I will never leave you, and I will never abandon you."

So we can say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper, and I will not be afraid. What can anyone do to me?"

Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Think about how their way of life ended, and follow their faith.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, and for ever.

Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings. It is good for the heart to be made strong by grace, and not by rules about food, which have not helped those who followed them.

We have an altar, and those who serve at the tabernacle have no right to eat from it.

The high priest carries the blood of animals into the holy place as an offering for sin, but the bodies of those animals are burned outside the camp.

So Jesus also suffered outside the gate, to make the people holy by his own blood.

So let us go out to him outside the camp, and bear the shame he bore.

For here we have no city that lasts, but we are looking for the city that is to come.

So through him let us always offer to God a sacrifice of praise, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to his name.

And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for God is pleased with sacrifices like these.

Obey your leaders and submit to them. They keep watch over your souls, as those who must give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with sorrow, for that would be no help to you.

Pray for us. We are sure that we have a good conscience, and we want to live honestly in every way.

I beg you all the more to do this, so that I may be given back to you sooner.

Now may the God of peace, who brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,

make you complete in every good work, so that you may do his will. May he work in you what pleases him, through Jesus Christ. To him be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Brothers and sisters, I beg you to bear with this word of encouragement, for I have written to you only a short letter.

You should know that our brother Timothy has been set free. If he comes soon, I will see you along with him.

Greet all your leaders, and all the saints. Those from Italy greet you.

Grace be with you all. Amen. «Written to the Hebrews from Italy, by Timothy.»
