OriginalSimple EnglishSimpleNew Summary

Read Ezekiel Chapter 42

Up and down arrows move from one verse to the next.

Then he brought me out into the outer court, the way toward the north. He brought me into the room that was opposite the separate place, and opposite the building toward the north.

In front of the length of a hundred cubits was the north door, and the width was fifty cubits.

Opposite the twenty cubits that belonged to the inner court, and opposite the pavement that belonged to the outer court, was gallery facing gallery in three storeys.

In front of the rooms was a walk ten cubits wide, going inward, a way of one cubit. Their doors faced north.

Now the upper rooms were shorter, for the galleries took away from them, more than from the lower and the middle rooms of the building.

For they were in three storeys, but they had no pillars like the pillars of the courts. So the building was narrowed more than the lowest and the middle rooms from the ground.

The wall that was outside, opposite the rooms, toward the outer court, in front of the rooms, was fifty cubits long.

For the length of the rooms that were in the outer court was fifty cubits. Look, in front of the temple it was a hundred cubits.

Under these rooms was the entrance on the east side, as a person goes into them from the outer court.

The rooms were in the thickness of the wall of the court toward the east, opposite the separate place, and opposite the building.

The way in front of them looked like the rooms that faced north. They were as long as those and as wide as those, and all their exits were the same in their design and in their doors.

Like the doors of the rooms that faced south, there was a door at the head of the way, the way straight in front of the wall toward the east, as a person enters them.

Then he said to me, "The north rooms and the south rooms, which are in front of the separate place, are holy rooms. There the priests who come near to the LORD shall eat the most holy things. There they shall lay the most holy things, and the food offering, and the sin offering, and the trespass offering, for the place is holy."

"When the priests go in, they shall not go out from the holy place into the outer court. There they shall leave the clothes in which they serve, for those clothes are holy. They shall put on other clothes, and then come near to the things that are for the people."

Now when he had finished measuring the inner house, he brought me out by the gate that faces east, and he measured all around it.

He measured the east side with the measuring reed: five hundred reeds, with the measuring reed all around.

He measured the north side: five hundred reeds, with the measuring reed all around.

He measured the south side: five hundred reeds, with the measuring reed.

He turned to the west side, and measured five hundred reeds with the measuring reed.

He measured it on the four sides. It had a wall all around, five hundred reeds long and five hundred wide, to make a separation between the sanctuary and the common place.
