Then the spirit lifted me up and brought me to the east gate of the LORD's house, the gate that faces east. Look, at the door of the gate were twenty-five men. Among them I saw Jaazaniah the son of Azur, and Pelatiah the son of Benaiah, leaders of the people.
Then he said to me, "Son of man, these are the men who plan evil and give wicked advice in this city."
"They say, 'It is not near; let us build houses. This city is the cooking pot, and we are the meat.'"
"So prophesy against them. Prophesy, son of man."
And the Spirit of the LORD fell on me, and said to me, "Speak. This is what the LORD says: 'You have said this, house of Israel. I know the things that come into your mind, every one of them."
'You have made your slain many in this city, and you have filled its streets with the dead.
'So this is what the Lord GOD says: Your slain, whom you have laid in the middle of it, they are the meat, and this city is the cooking pot. But I will bring you out of the middle of it.
'You have feared the sword, and I will bring a sword upon you, says the Lord GOD.
'I will bring you out of the middle of it, and hand you over to strangers, and I will carry out judgments among you.
'You will fall by the sword. I will judge you at the border of Israel, and you will know that I am the LORD.
'This city will not be your cooking pot, and you will not be the meat inside it. I will judge you at the border of Israel.
"'And you will know that I am the LORD. For you have not walked in my statutes, and you have not carried out my judgments, but you have followed the ways of the nations around you.'"
While I was prophesying, Pelatiah the son of Benaiah died. Then I fell down on my face and cried out with a loud voice, and said, "Ah, Lord GOD, will you make a complete end of the remnant of Israel?"
Again the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
"Son of man, your brothers, even your brothers, the men of your family, and all the house of Israel, every one of them, are those to whom the people living in Jerusalem have said, 'Go far away from the LORD. This land is given to us to own.'"
"So say: 'This is what the Lord GOD says: Although I have thrown them far off among the nations, and although I have scattered them among the countries, yet I will be to them a little sanctuary in the countries where they have come.'"
"So say: 'This is what the Lord GOD says: I will gather you from the peoples, and bring you together out of the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.'"
"'They will come there, and they will take away from it all its detestable things and all its abominations."
"'I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them a heart of flesh,"
"'so that they may walk in my statutes, and keep my rules, and do them. They will be my people, and I will be their God."
"'But as for those whose heart goes after the heart of their detestable things and their abominations, I will bring their way back on their own heads, says the Lord GOD.'"
Then the cherubim lifted up their wings, and the wheels were beside them; and the glory of the God of Israel was above them.
And the glory of the LORD went up from the middle of the city, and stood on the mountain which is on the east side of the city.
Afterwards the spirit took me up, and brought me in a vision by the Spirit of God into Chaldea, to the people in captivity. So the vision that I had seen went up from me.
Then I told the people in captivity all the things that the LORD had shown me.
