Rather than immediately revealing her request, she invites the king and Haman to a banquet, then postpones her petition to a second feast, while Haman leaves joyful but enraged at Mordecai's continued refusal to bow, prompting his wife to suggest building a gallows.

God's name is never mentioned

Esther is the only book in the Bible that never names God. Yet medieval rabbis noticed that the four letters of the divine name (YHWH) are spelled out as hidden acrostics in a handful of verses, and some old manuscripts even enlarge those letters.
