Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints who are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:
Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. He has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.
He chose us in him before the world was made, so that we should be holy and without blame before him in love.
In love he decided beforehand to adopt us as his children through Jesus Christ, because this was the good pleasure of his will,
to the praise of the glory of his grace. In the beloved one he has made us accepted.
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.
He poured out that grace on us richly, in all wisdom and understanding.
He has made known to us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in himself.
His plan was that, when the times are complete, he would gather together into one all things in Christ, both the things in heaven and the things on earth, in him.
In him we have also received an inheritance. We were chosen beforehand, according to the purpose of the one who works all things after the counsel of his own will,
so that we, who first trusted in Christ, should be to the praise of his glory.
You also trusted in him, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. In him also, after you believed, you were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise,
who is the first payment that guarantees our inheritance, until the redemption of the possession he has bought, to the praise of his glory.
So I too, since I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and of your love to all the saints,
do not stop giving thanks for you. I mention you in my prayers.
I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him.
I pray that the eyes of your understanding may be filled with light, so that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
and how very great his power is toward us who believe. It is the same working of his mighty power
which he worked in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and seated him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
far above every rule, and authority, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in the world to come.
He has put all things under his feet, and gave him to be head over all things to the church,
which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.
