Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, which was the ninth hour.
A certain man was carried there who had been lame from his mother's womb. Every day they laid him at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, so that he could ask for money from those who went into the temple.
So the man paid attention to them, expecting to receive something from them.
Then Peter said, "I have no silver or gold, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, get up and walk."
And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up. At once his feet and ankle bones were made strong.
He jumped up, stood, and walked. He went with them into the temple, walking and leaping and praising God.
All the people saw him walking and praising God.
They knew that he was the man who used to sit and beg at the Beautiful gate of the temple. They were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.
While the lame man who had been healed held on to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them in the porch that is called Solomon's, greatly amazed.
When Peter saw it, he said to the people, "Men of Israel, why are you surprised at this? Why do you stare at us so, as though we had made this man walk by our own power or holiness?"
"The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his Son Jesus. You handed him over and disowned him in front of Pilate, when Pilate had decided to let him go."
"But you disowned the Holy One and the Just, and asked for a murderer to be given to you."
"You killed the Prince of life, whom God has raised from the dead. We are witnesses of this."
"And his name, through faith in his name, has made this man strong, this man whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which comes through him has given the man this perfect health in front of you all."
"And now, brothers and sisters, I know that you did it in ignorance, as your rulers did also."
"But in this way God has fulfilled what he had foretold by the mouth of all his prophets: that Christ would suffer."
"So repent, and turn back, so that your sins may be wiped out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord."
"And he shall send Jesus Christ, who was preached to you before."
"Heaven must receive him until the times when all things are restored, which God has spoken of by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began."
"For Moses truly said to the fathers, 'The Lord your God shall raise up for you a prophet from among your brothers, like me. You shall listen to him in everything he says to you."
"'And every soul who will not listen to that prophet shall be destroyed from among the people.'"
"Yes, and all the prophets from Samuel and those who came after him, as many as have spoken, have also foretold these days."
"You are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, 'And in your seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.'"
"God raised up his Son Jesus and sent him to you first, to bless you by turning every one of you away from your sins."
