2 Timothy 1 - Summary

Original Summary

Read 2 Timothy Chapter 1 Summary

Paul, imprisoned and facing death, writes to Timothy his beloved child, recalling his sincere faith (which dwelt first in his grandmother Lois and mother Eunice) and encouraging him to stir up God's gift received through Paul's hands, for God gave not a spirit of fear but of power, love, and self-control. He urges Timothy not to be ashamed of the Lord's testimony or of Paul His prisoner but to share in suffering for the gospel according to God's power, holding the pattern of sound words and guarding the good deposit by the indwelling Holy Spirit.
