1 Peter 4 - Summary

Those who have suffered in the flesh have ceased from sin, no longer living for human lusts but God's will; former companions in debauchery now think it strange believers do not join them. The end of all things is at hand, requiring sobriety, prayer, fervent love that covers sins, hospitality, and stewardship of manifold grace through speaking and serving. The fiery trial should not surprise but bring rejoicing as partakers of Christ's sufferings, for reproach for His name means the Spirit of glory rests upon them. Judgment begins at God's house; if the righteous are scarcely saved, where will the ungodly appear? Those suffering according to God's will must commit their souls to a faithful Creator.
