If any of you has a dispute with another, how dare you take it to law before the unjust, instead of before the saints?
Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is to be judged by you, are you not fit to judge the smallest matters?
Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more the things of this life.
So if you have cases about the things of this life, why do you appoint as judges those who count for least in the church?
I say this to shame you. Is it really true that there is not one wise person among you? Is there no one able to judge between his brothers?
Instead, brother goes to law against brother, and does it in front of unbelievers.
The truth is that it is already a complete failure among you that you go to law with one another. Why not rather accept the wrong? Why not rather let yourselves be cheated?
No, you yourselves do wrong and cheat others, and they are your own brothers.
Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be fooled. Those who commit sexual sin, or worship idols, or commit adultery, or are effeminate, or are men who abuse themselves with other men,
nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor people who insult others, nor those who rob others will inherit the kingdom of God.
And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were made holy, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
Everything is lawful for me, but not everything is good for me. Everything is lawful for me, but I will not let anything have power over me.
Food is for the stomach, and the stomach is for food. But God will destroy them both. The body is not for sexual sin, but for the Lord, and the Lord is for the body.
God raised up the Lord, and he will also raise us up by his own power.
Do you not know that your bodies are the parts of Christ? Shall I then take the parts of Christ and make them the parts of a prostitute? Never.
Do you not know that a man who joins himself to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For it says, "The two shall be one flesh."
But the one who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with him.
Run away from sexual sin. Every other sin a person does is outside the body, but the one who commits sexual sin sins against his own body.
Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own.
You were bought with a price. So give glory to God in your body and in your spirit, which belong to God.
