Read Psalms Chapter 77

For the leader of the music, for Jeduthun. A psalm of Asaph.

Up and down arrows move from one verse to the next.

I cried out to God with my voice, to God with my voice; and he listened to me.

In the day of my trouble I looked for the Lord. My sore ran in the night and did not stop. My soul refused to be comforted.

I remembered God, and I was troubled. I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed. Selah.

You hold my eyes open. I am so troubled that I cannot speak.

I have thought about the days of long ago, the years of ancient times.

I call to mind my song in the night. I talk with my own heart, and my spirit searches carefully.

Will the Lord turn us away for ever? Will he never again show favour?

Is his mercy completely gone for ever? Does his promise fail for all time?

Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has he in anger shut up his tender mercies? Selah.

And I said, "This is my weakness. But I will remember the years of the right hand of the Most High."

I will remember the works of the LORD. Surely I will remember your wonders of long ago.

I will think deeply about all your work, and talk of the things you have done.

Your way, O God, is in the sanctuary. Who is so great a God as our God?

You are the God who does wonders. You have shown your strength among the peoples.

With your arm you have redeemed your people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.

The waters saw you, O God, the waters saw you; they were afraid. The deep places also were troubled.

The clouds poured out water. The skies sent out a sound. Your arrows also flew everywhere.

The voice of your thunder was in the heaven. The lightnings lit up the world. The earth trembled and shook.

Your way is in the sea, and your path in the great waters, and your footsteps are not known.

You led your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.
