O LORD my God, I put my trust in you. Save me from all those who chase me, and rescue me.
If you do not, he will tear me apart like a lion. He will rip me in pieces, and no one will rescue me.
O LORD my God, if I have done this; if there is wrong in my hands;
if I have paid back evil to the one who was at peace with me (indeed, I set free the one who was my enemy without cause);
then let the enemy chase me and catch me. Let him trample my life into the ground, and lay my honour in the dust. Selah.
Rise up, O LORD, in your anger. Lift yourself up against the rage of my enemies. Wake up for me, and bring the judgment you have commanded.
Then the gathered peoples will stand around you. So return on high above them.
The LORD will judge the peoples. Judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, and according to the honesty that is in me.
Let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end, but make the just stand firm. For the righteous God tests the hearts and the inward parts.
My defence comes from God, who saves those whose hearts are upright.
God judges the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.
If he does not turn back, God will sharpen his sword. He has bent his bow and made it ready.
He has also prepared the weapons of death for him. He makes his arrows ready against those who chase me.
Look, the wicked man is in labour with evil. He has conceived trouble, and given birth to lies.
He made a pit and dug it deep, and he has fallen into the hole he made.
His trouble will come back on his own head, and his violence will come down on his own skull.
I will praise the LORD for his righteousness, and I will sing praise to the name of the LORD most high.
