Psalms 41 - Simple English

OriginalSimple EnglishSimpleNew Summary

Read Psalms Chapter 41

For the leader of the music. A psalm of David.

Up and down arrows move from one verse to the next.

1Blessed is the one who thinks about the poor: the LORD will rescue him in the time of trouble.

2The LORD will protect him and keep him alive; and he will be blessed on the earth: and you will not hand him over to the will of his enemies.

3The LORD will strengthen him on his bed of weakness: you will make all his bed in his sickness.

4I said, "LORD, have mercy on me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against you."

5My enemies speak evil of me: "When will he die, and his name perish?"

6And if one of them comes to see me, he speaks empty words: his heart gathers up wickedness for itself; when he goes out, he tells it.

7All who hate me whisper together against me: they plan my harm.

8"An evil disease holds him fast," they say, "and now that he is lying down he will never get up again."

9Yes, my own close friend, whom I trusted, who ate my bread, has lifted up his heel against me.

10But you, LORD, have mercy on me, and raise me up, so that I may pay them back.

11By this I know that you are pleased with me, because my enemy does not win over me.

12And as for me, you hold me up in my integrity, and you set me before your face for ever.

13Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting. Amen, and Amen.
