OriginalSimple EnglishSimpleNew Summary

Read Psalms Chapter 37

A psalm of David.

Up and down arrows move from one verse to the next.

Do not be upset because of those who do evil. Do not envy those who do wrong.

For soon they will be cut down like the grass, and wither like green plants.

Trust in the LORD, and do good. Then you will live in the land, and you will truly be fed.

Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you what your heart desires.

Give your way over to the LORD. Trust in him also, and he will act.

He will bring out your righteousness like the light, and your cause like the noonday sun.

Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him. Do not be upset because of the one who does well in his way, or because of the man who carries out wicked plans.

Stop being angry, and turn from rage. Do not be upset; it only leads to evil.

For those who do evil will be cut off. But those who wait for the LORD will inherit the earth.

In just a little while the wicked will be gone. You will look carefully at his place, and he will not be there.

But the meek will inherit the earth, and they will delight in great peace.

The wicked man plots against the just, and grinds his teeth at him.

The Lord laughs at him, for he sees that his day is coming.

The wicked have drawn the sword and bent their bow, to bring down the poor and needy, and to kill those whose conduct is upright.

Their sword will go into their own heart, and their bows will be broken.

The little that a righteous man has is better than the riches of many wicked people.

For the arms of the wicked will be broken, but the LORD holds up the righteous.

The LORD knows the days of those who are upright, and their inheritance will last for ever.

They will not be ashamed in the evil time, and in the days of famine they will have enough.

But the wicked will die. The enemies of the LORD will be like the fat of lambs: they will be used up; they will vanish away in smoke.

The wicked man borrows and does not pay back, but the righteous man shows mercy and gives.

For those whom he blesses will inherit the earth, and those whom he curses will be cut off.

The steps of a good man are set in order by the LORD, and he delights in his way.

Though he falls, he will not be thrown down completely, for the LORD holds him up with his hand.

I have been young, and now I am old. Yet I have not seen the righteous left alone, nor his children begging for bread.

He is always merciful, and he lends; and his children are blessed.

Turn away from evil, and do good; and live for ever.

For the LORD loves justice, and he does not leave his holy ones. They are kept safe for ever. But the children of the wicked will be cut off.

The righteous will inherit the land, and live in it for ever.

The mouth of the righteous man speaks wisdom, and his tongue talks of justice.

The law of his God is in his heart. None of his steps will slip.

The wicked man watches the righteous, and looks for a way to kill him.

The LORD will not leave him in his power, or let him be condemned when he is judged.

Wait for the LORD, and keep his way. He will lift you up to inherit the land. When the wicked are cut off, you will see it.

I have seen a wicked man with great power, spreading himself out like a green bay tree.

Yet he passed away, and he was gone. I looked for him, but he could not be found.

Take note of the blameless man, and look at the upright, for the end of that man is peace.

But those who break the law will all be destroyed. The end of the wicked will be cut off.

But the salvation of the righteous comes from the LORD. He is their strength in the time of trouble.

The LORD will help them and rescue them. He will rescue them from the wicked and save them, because they trust in him.
