The LORD spoke to Moses. He said,
"Take Aaron and his sons with him, and the clothes, and the anointing oil, and a young bull for the sin offering, and two rams, and a basket of bread made without yeast."
"And gather all the people together at the door of the tent of meeting."
Moses did as the LORD commanded him. The people were gathered together at the door of the tent of meeting.
Moses said to the people, "This is what the LORD has commanded to be done."
He put the coat on Aaron and tied the sash round him. He clothed him with the robe and put the ephod on him. He tied the skilfully woven band of the ephod round him, fastening the ephod to him with it.
He put the breastplate on him. In the breastplate he put the Urim and the Thummim.
He put the turban on Aaron's head. On the turban, at the front, he put the golden plate, the holy crown, as the LORD commanded Moses.
Moses took the anointing oil and anointed the tent of meeting and everything in it, and made them holy.
He sprinkled some of the oil on the altar seven times. He anointed the altar and all its vessels, and the basin and its stand, to make them holy.
He poured some of the anointing oil on Aaron's head and anointed him, to make him holy.
Moses brought Aaron's sons forward. He put coats on them, tied sashes round them, and put headdresses on them, as the LORD commanded Moses.
He brought the young bull for the sin offering. Aaron and his sons laid their hands on the head of the bull for the sin offering.
Moses killed it. He took the blood and put it with his finger on the horns of the altar all round, and cleansed the altar. He poured out the blood at the base of the altar and made it holy, so that atonement could be made on it.
He took all the fat that was on the inner parts, and the covering of the liver, and the two kidneys with their fat, and Moses burned them on the altar.
But the bull, with its hide, its flesh and its dung, he burned with fire outside the camp, as the LORD commanded Moses.
He brought the ram for the burnt offering. Aaron and his sons laid their hands on the head of the ram.
Moses killed it, and sprinkled the blood on the altar all round.
He cut the ram into pieces, and Moses burned the head, the pieces and the fat.
He washed the inner parts and the legs in water. Then Moses burned the whole ram on the altar. It was a burnt sacrifice, a pleasing smell, an offering made by fire to the LORD, as the LORD commanded Moses.
He brought the other ram, the ram for setting the priests apart. Aaron and his sons laid their hands on the head of the ram.
Moses killed it. He took some of its blood and put it on the tip of Aaron's right ear, on the thumb of his right hand, and on the big toe of his right foot.
He brought Aaron's sons forward, and Moses put some of the blood on the tips of their right ears, on the thumbs of their right hands, and on the big toes of their right feet. Then Moses sprinkled the blood on the altar all round.
He took the fat, and the fat tail, and all the fat that was on the inner parts, and the covering of the liver, and the two kidneys with their fat, and the right shoulder.
Out of the basket of bread made without yeast, which was before the LORD, he took one flat cake, and one cake of bread made with oil, and one thin wafer. He put them on the fat and on the right shoulder.
He put all of it into Aaron's hands and into his sons' hands, and waved them as a wave offering before the LORD.
Then Moses took them from their hands and burned them on the altar on top of the burnt offering. They were an offering for setting the priests apart, a pleasing smell. It is an offering made by fire to the LORD.
Moses took the breast and waved it as a wave offering before the LORD. It was Moses' share of the ram for setting the priests apart, as the LORD commanded Moses.
Moses took some of the anointing oil, and some of the blood that was on the altar, and sprinkled it on Aaron and on his clothes, and on his sons and on his sons' clothes with him. So he made Aaron holy, and his clothes, and his sons, and his sons' clothes with him.
Moses said to Aaron and to his sons, "Boil the meat at the door of the tent of meeting. Eat it there with the bread that is in the basket for setting the priests apart, as I commanded, saying, 'Aaron and his sons shall eat it.'"
"Whatever is left of the meat and of the bread you shall burn with fire."
"You shall not go out of the door of the tent of meeting for seven days, until the days for setting you apart are finished. For seven days he will set you apart."
"What has been done this day, the LORD has commanded to be done, to make atonement for you."
"So you shall stay at the door of the tent of meeting day and night for seven days, and keep what the LORD has charged you to keep, so that you do not die. For this is what I have been commanded."
