Read Leviticus Chapter 13

Up and down arrows move from one verse to the next.

The LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron. He said,

"When a man has a swelling, a scab, or a bright spot on the skin of his body, and it looks like the disease of leprosy on his skin, he must be brought to Aaron the priest, or to one of his sons the priests."

The priest must look at the sore on the skin. If the hair in the sore has turned white, and the sore looks deeper than the skin, it is the disease of leprosy. When the priest has looked at him, he must say that the man is unclean.

But if the bright spot on his skin is white, and does not look deeper than the skin, and the hair in it has not turned white, then the priest must shut the man away for seven days.

On the seventh day the priest must look at him. If the sore looks the same as before, and has not spread on the skin, the priest must shut him away for seven more days.

On the seventh day the priest must look at him again. If the sore has faded, and has not spread on the skin, the priest must say that he is clean. It is only a scab. The man must wash his clothes, and he will be clean.

But if the scab spreads widely on the skin after he has shown himself to the priest to be made clean, he must show himself to the priest again.

If the priest sees that the scab has spread on the skin, then the priest must say that he is unclean. It is leprosy.

When the disease of leprosy is on a man, he must be brought to the priest.

The priest must look at him. If there is a white swelling on the skin, and it has turned the hair white, and there is raw flesh in the swelling,

it is an old leprosy in the skin of his body. The priest must say that he is unclean. He must not shut him away, for the man is unclean.

If the leprosy breaks out widely on the skin, and covers all the skin of the one with the disease, from his head to his foot, everywhere the priest looks,

then the priest must consider it. If the leprosy has covered all his body, the priest must say that the man with the disease is clean. It has all turned white. He is clean.

But when raw flesh appears on him, he will be unclean.

The priest must look at the raw flesh and say that he is unclean. The raw flesh is unclean. It is leprosy.

Or if the raw flesh changes again and turns white, the man must come to the priest.

The priest must look at him. If the sore has turned white, then the priest must say that the man with the disease is clean. He is clean.

If a person had a boil on his skin, and it is healed,

and in the place of the boil there is a white swelling, or a bright spot that is white and somewhat red, it must be shown to the priest.

When the priest looks at it, if it seems lower than the skin, and the hair in it has turned white, then the priest must say that he is unclean. It is the disease of leprosy breaking out of the boil.

But if the priest looks at it, and there are no white hairs in it, and it is not lower than the skin, but has faded, then the priest must shut him away for seven days.

If it spreads widely on the skin, then the priest must say that he is unclean. It is the disease.

But if the bright spot stays where it is and does not spread, it is the scar of the boil. The priest must say that he is clean.

Or if someone has a burn on his skin, and the raw flesh of the burn has a bright spot that is white and somewhat red, or white,

then the priest must look at it. If the hair in the bright spot has turned white, and the spot looks deeper than the skin, it is leprosy breaking out of the burn. So the priest must say that he is unclean. It is the disease of leprosy.

But if the priest looks at it, and there is no white hair in the bright spot, and it is not lower than the rest of the skin, but has faded, then the priest must shut him away for seven days.

On the seventh day the priest must look at him. If it has spread widely on the skin, then the priest must say that he is unclean. It is the disease of leprosy.

But if the bright spot stays where it is, and has not spread on the skin, but has faded, it is a swelling from the burn. The priest must say that he is clean, for it is only the mark of the burn.

If a man or a woman has a sore on the head or in the beard,

then the priest must look at the sore. If it looks deeper than the skin, and there is thin yellow hair in it, then the priest must say that the person is unclean. It is a dry scall, a leprosy of the head or the beard.

But if the priest looks at the sore of the scall, and it does not look deeper than the skin, and there is no black hair in it, then the priest must shut away the person with the scall for seven days.

On the seventh day the priest must look at the sore. If the scall has not spread, and there is no yellow hair in it, and the scall does not look deeper than the skin,

then the person must be shaved, but he must not shave the scall. The priest must shut away the person with the scall for seven more days.

On the seventh day the priest must look at the scall. If the scall has not spread on the skin, and does not look deeper than the skin, then the priest must say that he is clean. He must wash his clothes, and he will be clean.

But if the scall spreads widely on the skin after he has been made clean,

then the priest must look at him. If the scall has spread on the skin, the priest need not look for yellow hair. The man is unclean.

But if the scall looks the same as before, and black hair has grown in it, the scall is healed. He is clean, and the priest must say that he is clean.

If a man or a woman has bright spots on the skin of the body, white bright spots,

then the priest must look. If the bright spots on the skin are a dull white, it is a harmless rash that has grown on the skin. The person is clean.

If a man's hair has fallen from his head, he is bald, but he is clean.

If his hair has fallen from the front of his head, he is bald on the forehead, but he is clean.

But if there is a white and reddish sore on the bald head or the bald forehead, it is leprosy breaking out on his bald head or his bald forehead.

Then the priest must look at it. If the swelling of the sore is white and reddish on his bald head or his bald forehead, like leprosy on the skin of the body,

he is a leprous man. He is unclean. The priest must say that he is completely unclean. His disease is on his head.

The leper who has the disease must wear torn clothes, and leave his head uncovered. He must cover his upper lip, and cry out, 'Unclean, unclean.'

As long as the disease is on him he will be defiled. He is unclean. He must live alone. His home must be outside the camp.

If the disease of leprosy is in a piece of clothing, whether woollen clothing or linen clothing,

or in the warp or the woof of linen or wool, or in a skin, or in anything made of skin,

and if the mark is greenish or reddish in the clothing, or in the skin, or in the warp, or in the woof, or in anything made of skin, it is the disease of leprosy, and it must be shown to the priest.

The priest must look at the mark, and shut away the thing that has the mark for seven days.

On the seventh day he must look at the mark. If the mark has spread in the clothing, or in the warp, or in the woof, or in a skin, or in anything made of skin, the mark is an eating leprosy. It is unclean.

So he must burn the clothing, whether warp or woof, in wool or in linen, or anything of skin that has the mark in it. It is an eating leprosy. It must be burned in the fire.

But if the priest looks, and the mark has not spread in the clothing, or in the warp, or in the woof, or in anything made of skin,

then the priest must command them to wash the thing that has the mark, and he must shut it away for seven more days.

The priest must look at the mark after it has been washed. If the mark has not changed colour, and has not spread, it is unclean. You must burn it in the fire. It is eaten away, whether the bare place is on the inside or the outside.

But if the priest looks, and the mark has faded after it was washed, then he must tear it out of the clothing, or out of the skin, or out of the warp, or out of the woof.

If it still appears in the clothing, or in the warp, or in the woof, or in anything made of skin, it is spreading. You must burn with fire the thing that has the mark in it.

As for the clothing, whether warp or woof, or anything made of skin, which you wash, if the mark is gone from it, then it must be washed a second time, and it will be clean.

"This is the law for the disease of leprosy in clothing of wool or linen, in the warp or the woof, or in anything made of skins, to say that it is clean, or to say that it is unclean."
