A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet, upon Shigionoth.

O LORD, I have heard what you said, and I was afraid. O LORD, revive your work in the middle of the years; in the middle of the years make it known. In your anger remember mercy.

God came from Teman, and the Holy One from mount Paran. Selah. His glory covered the heavens, and the earth was full of his praise.

His brightness was like the light. Horns came out of his hand, and there his power was hidden.

The plague went before him, and burning coals went out at his feet.

He stood, and measured the earth. He looked, and drove the nations apart. The everlasting mountains were scattered; the age-old hills bowed down. His ways are everlasting.

I saw the tents of Cushan in trouble, and the curtains of the land of Midian shook.

Was the LORD displeased with the rivers? Was your anger against the rivers? Was your fury against the sea, when you rode on your horses and your chariots of salvation?

Your bow was laid quite bare, as the oaths to the tribes required, your own word. Selah. You split the earth open with rivers.

The mountains saw you, and they trembled. The rushing water swept past. The deep gave its voice, and lifted its hands on high.

The sun and the moon stood still in their home. They moved at the light of your arrows, at the shining of your flashing spear.

You marched through the land in indignation. You threshed the nations in anger.

You went out to save your people, to save them with your anointed one. You wounded the head of the house of the wicked, laying it bare from the foundation up to the neck. Selah.

You struck through the head of his villages with his own staves. They came out like a whirlwind to scatter me. They rejoiced as if to devour the poor in secret.

You walked through the sea with your horses, through the heap of great waters.

When I heard, my body trembled; my lips quivered at the sound. Rottenness came into my bones, and I trembled where I stood, so that I might rest in the day of trouble. For he comes up against the people, and he will invade them with his troops.

Even though the fig tree does not blossom, and there is no fruit on the vines; even though the olive crop fails, and the fields give no food; even though the flock is cut off from the fold, and there is no herd in the stalls:

yet I will rejoice in the LORD. I will be glad in the God of my salvation.

The LORD God is my strength. He will make my feet like the feet of deer, and he will make me walk on my high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments.
