Read Genesis Chapter 9

Up and down arrows move from one verse to the next.

God blessed Noah and his sons, and said to them, "Have many children, and increase, and fill the earth."

"Every animal of the earth will fear you and dread you. So will every bird of the air, and everything that moves on the ground, and all the fish of the sea. They are given into your hand."

"Every moving thing that lives will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, now I give you everything."

"But you must not eat meat that still has its life in it, that is, its blood."

"And I will surely demand a reckoning for your own lifeblood. I will demand it from every animal, and I will demand it from man. From each man, for the life of his brother, I will demand the life of a man."

"Whoever sheds the blood of a man, by man his own blood will be shed. For God made man in his own image."

"As for you, have many children, and increase. Spread out over the earth in great numbers, and increase in it."

God spoke to Noah, and to his sons with him. He said,

"Look, I am making my covenant with you, and with your children after you,"

"and with every living creature that is with you: the birds, the cattle, and every animal of the earth that is with you. It is with all that came out of the ark, with every animal of the earth."

"I will make my covenant with you. Never again will all flesh be cut off by the waters of a flood. Never again will a flood destroy the earth."

And God said, "This is the sign of the covenant that I am making between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all generations to come:"

I set my bow in the cloud, and it will be the sign of a covenant between me and the earth.

When I bring a cloud over the earth, the bow will be seen in the cloud.

Then I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all flesh.

"The bow will be in the cloud, and I will look at it. Then I will remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth."

And God said to Noah, "This is the sign of the covenant that I have made between me and all flesh that is on the earth."

The sons of Noah who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Ham is the father of Canaan.

These are the three sons of Noah, and from them the whole earth was filled with people.

Noah began to work the ground, and he planted a vineyard.

He drank the wine and became drunk, and he lay uncovered inside his tent.

Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father naked, and told his two brothers outside.

So Shem and Japheth took a garment and laid it on both their shoulders. They walked in backwards and covered their father's nakedness. Their faces were turned away, and they did not see their father naked.

When Noah woke from his wine, he knew what his younger son had done to him.

So he said, "Cursed be Canaan. He will be the lowest of servants to his brothers."

And he said, "Blessed be the LORD God of Shem, and let Canaan be his servant."

"God will enlarge Japheth, and he will live in the tents of Shem, and let Canaan be his servant."

After the flood Noah lived three hundred and fifty years.

In all, Noah lived nine hundred and fifty years, and then he died.
