Paul instructs the spiritual to restore the fallen in gentleness, to bear one another's burdens and so fulfill Christ's law, while also recognizing that each must bear their own load and be careful not to think themselves something when they are nothing. He establishes the principle of sowing and reaping (flesh to corruption, Spirit to life), urges doing good especially to the household of faith, and concludes in his own hand, boasting only in Christ's cross by which the world is crucified to him and he to the world.

Unlike most of Paul's letters, Galatians was addressed not to a single church but to 'the churches in Galatia'—multiple congregations in the region. Paul had established these churches during his first missionary journey through cities like Antioch, Iconium, Lystra, and Derbe.
