"You also, son of man, take a clay tile and lay it in front of you. Draw on it a city, Jerusalem."
"Lay siege against it. Build a fort against it. Pile up a mound against it. Set camps against it, and put battering rams all around it."
"Take also an iron pan and set it up as a wall of iron between you and the city. Set your face against it. It will be under siege, and you are the one laying siege to it. This will be a sign to the house of Israel."
"Lie down also on your left side, and lay the sin of the house of Israel upon it. You will carry their sin for as many days as you lie on that side."
"For I have laid on you the years of their sin, counted as days: three hundred and ninety days. So you will carry the sin of the house of Israel."
"When you have finished those days, lie down again, this time on your right side, and you will carry the sin of the house of Judah for forty days. I have given you one day for each year."
"So set your face toward the siege of Jerusalem, with your arm bared, and prophesy against it."
"Look, I will put ropes on you, so that you cannot turn from one side to the other until you have finished the days of your siege."
"Take also wheat, barley, beans, lentiles, millet, and fitches. Put them in one jar and make bread from them for yourself. You will eat it for as many days as you lie on your side, three hundred and ninety days."
"The food you eat will be weighed out, twenty shekels a day. You will eat it at set times each day."
"You will also drink water by measure, the sixth part of a hin. You will drink it at set times each day."
"You will eat it as barley cakes, and you will bake it in their sight, using human dung as fuel."
And the LORD said, "In this way the children of Israel will eat their unclean bread among the Gentiles, where I will drive them."
Then I said, "Ah, Lord GOD! Look, I have never made myself unclean. From the time I was young until now I have not eaten anything that died by itself or was torn by animals. No unclean meat has ever come into my mouth."
Then he said to me, "See, I allow you cow's dung instead of human dung, and you may prepare your bread with that."
He also said to me, "Son of man, look, I will cut off the supply of bread in Jerusalem. They will eat bread weighed out, and with fear; and they will drink water by measure, and with horror,"
"so that they will lack bread and water, and be appalled at one another, and waste away because of their sin."
