The word of the LORD came to me again. He said,
"Son of man, turn your face against Mount Seir, and prophesy against it."
Say to it, This is what the Lord GOD says: Look, Mount Seir, I am against you. I will stretch out my hand against you, and I will make you completely desolate.
I will lay your cities waste, and you will be desolate. Then you will know that I am the LORD.
You have kept a hatred that never ends. You handed the children of Israel over to the sword in the time of their trouble, in the time when their punishment for sin came to an end.
So, as surely as I live, says the Lord GOD, I will give you over to blood, and blood will chase you. Since you did not hate blood, blood will chase you.
So I will make Mount Seir completely desolate. I will cut off from it everyone who goes out and everyone who comes back.
I will fill its mountains with its dead. On your hills, in your valleys, and in all your rivers, those killed by the sword will fall.
I will make you desolate for ever, and your cities will not be lived in again. Then you will know that I am the LORD.
You said, 'These two nations and these two countries will be mine, and we will take them,' even though the LORD was there.
So, as surely as I live, says the Lord GOD, I will deal with you as your anger and your envy deserve, the anger and envy you showed out of your hatred for them. I will make myself known among them when I judge you.
Then you will know that I am the LORD. I have heard all the insults you spoke against the mountains of Israel. You said, 'They are laid waste. They are given to us to eat up.'
With your mouth you boasted against me. You piled up words against me. I heard them.
This is what the Lord GOD says: When the whole earth is glad, I will make you desolate.
"You were glad when the land of the house of Israel was left desolate. So I will do the same to you. You will be desolate, Mount Seir, and all Idumea, all of it. Then they will know that I am the LORD."
