Up and down arrows move from one verse to the next.

That night the king could not sleep. So he ordered the book of records, the chronicles, to be brought, and they were read to the king.

There it was found written that Mordecai had told about Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king's officers who guarded the door. They had planned to lay hands on King Ahasuerus.

The king said, "What honour and reward has Mordecai been given for this?" The king's servants who waited on him said, "Nothing has been done for him."

The king said, "Who is in the court?" Now Haman had just come into the outer court of the king's house, to speak to the king about hanging Mordecai on the gallows he had made ready for him.

The king's servants said to him, "Look, Haman is standing in the court." The king said, "Let him come in."

So Haman came in. The king said to him, "What should be done for the man the king delights to honour?" Now Haman thought to himself, "Who would the king delight to honour more than me?"

So Haman answered the king, "For the man the king delights to honour,"

let them bring the royal robes that the king himself wears, and the horse that the king rides on, and the royal crown that is set on its head.

"Let the robes and the horse be handed over to one of the king's most noble princes. Let them dress the man the king delights to honour, and lead him on horseback through the street of the city, and call out before him, 'This is what is done for the man the king delights to honour.'"

Then the king said to Haman, "Hurry, take the robes and the horse, as you have said, and do all this for Mordecai the Jew, who sits at the king's gate. Let nothing be left out of all that you have said."

So Haman took the robes and the horse. He dressed Mordecai, and led him on horseback through the street of the city, and called out before him, "This is what is done for the man the king delights to honour."

Then Mordecai came back to the king's gate. But Haman hurried to his house, mourning, with his head covered.

Haman told Zeresh his wife and all his friends everything that had happened to him. Then his wise men and Zeresh his wife said to him, "If Mordecai is of the seed of the Jews, and you have begun to fall before him, you will not win against him. You will surely fall before him."

While they were still talking with him, the king's officers arrived and hurried Haman away to the banquet that Esther had prepared.
