Paul exhorts imitation of God as beloved children, walking in love as Christ loved and gave Himself as a fragrant offering, warning that fornication, uncleanness, and covetousness should not even be named among saints. He develops the Christ-church relationship as the paradigm for marriage: husbands loving as Christ loved the church and gave Himself to sanctify her, wives submitting as to the Lord, the two becoming one flesh as a profound mystery concerning Christ and the church.
