Paul warns that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons through hypocritical liars with seared consciences, who forbid marriage and command abstinence from foods God created to be received with thanksgiving. He exhorts Timothy to be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nourished in faith's words and good doctrine, rejecting profane myths while exercising unto godliness (which has promise for this life and the coming one), commanding and teaching these things despite his youth, and giving attention to reading, exhortation, and doctrine.
