Read Song of Solomon Chapter 3

Up and down arrows move from one verse to the next.

At night on my bed I looked for the one my soul loves. I looked for him, but I did not find him.

I said, "I will get up now and go through the city. In the streets and the wide ways I will look for the one my soul loves." I looked for him, but I did not find him.

The watchmen who go through the city found me. I said to them, "Have you seen the one my soul loves?"

I had gone only a little way past them when I found the one my soul loves. I held him and would not let him go, until I had brought him into my mother's house, into the room of the one who gave birth to me.

Daughters of Jerusalem, I tell you by the roes and by the deer of the field: do not stir up my love, do not wake him, until he is willing.

Who is this coming up out of the wilderness like pillars of smoke, perfumed with myrrh and frankincense, with all the merchant's sweet powders?

Look at his bed, the bed of Solomon. Sixty brave men are around it, of the brave men of Israel.

They all hold swords, and they are skilled in war. Every man has his sword at his side, because of fear in the night.

King Solomon made himself a chariot of the wood of Lebanon.

He made its pillars of silver, its base of gold, and its seat of purple. The middle of it was paved with love, for the daughters of Jerusalem.

Come out, daughters of Zion, and look at king Solomon. He is wearing the crown his mother placed on him on the day of his wedding, on the day of the gladness of his heart.
