O LORD God of my salvation, I have cried out day and night before you.

Let my prayer come before you. Turn your ear to my cry.

For my soul is full of troubles, and my life comes near to the grave.

I am counted with those who go down into the pit. I am like a man who has no strength.

I am set loose among the dead, like the killed who lie in the grave, whom you remember no more. They are cut off from your hand.

You have laid me in the lowest pit, in darkness, in the deep places.

Your anger lies heavy upon me, and you have afflicted me with all your waves. Selah.

You have put my friends far away from me. You have made me something they hate. I am shut in, and I cannot get out.

My eye grows weak because of my trouble. LORD, I have called on you every day. I have stretched out my hands to you.

Will you show wonders to the dead? Will the dead rise up and praise you? Selah.

Will your lovingkindness be told in the grave? Or your faithfulness in the place of destruction?

Will your wonders be known in the dark? Or your righteousness in the land where all is forgotten?

But I have cried out to you, O LORD, and in the morning my prayer comes before you.

LORD, why do you throw away my soul? Why do you hide your face from me?

From my youth up I have been afflicted and ready to die. While I bear your terrors, I am distraught.

Your fierce anger passes over me. Your terrors have cut me off.

They came all around me every day like water. Together they closed in on me.

You have put those who love me and my friends far away from me, and my companions into darkness.
