OriginalSimple EnglishSimpleNew Summary

Read Proverbs Chapter 14

Up and down arrows move from one verse to the next.

Every wise woman builds her house. But the foolish woman pulls hers down with her own hands.

The one who walks in his uprightness fears the LORD. But the one whose ways are crooked despises him.

In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride. But the lips of the wise will keep them safe.

Where there are no oxen, the feeding trough is clean. But a large harvest comes by the strength of the ox.

A faithful witness will not lie. But a false witness pours out lies.

A mocker looks for wisdom and does not find it. But knowledge comes easily to the one who understands.

Go away from a foolish man, when you see no lips of knowledge in him.

The wisdom of the careful is to understand his own way. But the folly of fools is deceit.

Fools make a joke of sin. But among the righteous there is favour.

The heart knows its own bitterness. And a stranger does not share in its joy.

The house of the wicked will be pulled down. But the tent of the upright will flourish.

There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it is the way of death.

Even while laughing, the heart is sad. And that joy ends in sorrow.

The one whose heart turns back will be filled with his own ways. And a good man will be satisfied from himself.

The simple believes every word. But the careful man watches where he is going.

A wise man is afraid and turns away from evil. But the fool rages on, sure of himself.

The one who is quickly angry acts foolishly. And a man of wicked plots is hated.

The simple receive folly as their share. But the careful are crowned with knowledge.

The evil bow down before the good, and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.

The poor man is hated even by his own neighbour. But the rich has many friends.

The one who despises his neighbour sins. But the one who shows mercy to the poor is happy.

Do those who plan evil not go astray? But mercy and truth will belong to those who plan good.

In all hard work there is profit. But the talk of the lips leads only to poverty.

The crown of the wise is their riches. But the foolishness of fools is folly.

A true witness saves lives. But a deceitful witness speaks lies.

In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence. And his children will have a place of safety.

The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life. It turns a person away from the traps of death.

A king's honour is in the great number of his people. But without people a prince is ruined.

The one who is slow to anger has great understanding. But the one with a hasty spirit lifts up folly.

A sound heart is life to the body. But envy is rottenness in the bones.

The one who crushes the poor insults his Maker. But the one who honours him shows mercy to the poor.

The wicked is driven away in his wickedness. But the righteous has hope in his death.

Wisdom rests in the heart of the one who understands. But what is among fools is made known.

Righteousness lifts up a nation. But sin is a shame to any people.

The king's favour goes to a wise servant. But his anger is against the one who brings shame.
