Isaiah 56 - Simple English

OriginalSimple EnglishSimpleNew Summary

Read Isaiah Chapter 56

Up and down arrows move from one verse to the next.

1This is what the LORD says: "Keep justice, and do what is right. For my salvation is near, ready to come, and my righteousness is ready to be revealed."

2"Blessed is the man who does this, and the son of man who holds on to it. He keeps the sabbath and does not make it unclean, and he keeps his hand from doing any evil."

3Do not let the foreigner who has joined himself to the LORD say, "The LORD has completely separated me from his people." And do not let the eunuch say, "Look, I am a dry tree."

4For this is what the LORD says to the eunuchs who keep my sabbaths, and choose the things that please me, and hold on to my covenant:

5"To them I will give, in my house and inside my walls, a place and a name better than sons and daughters. I will give them an everlasting name that will never be cut off."

6"And the foreigners who join themselves to the LORD, to serve him, and to love the name of the LORD, to be his servants - everyone who keeps the sabbath and does not make it unclean, and holds on to my covenant -"

7"I will bring them to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be accepted on my altar. For my house will be called a house of prayer for all people."

8The Lord GOD, who gathers the outcasts of Israel, says, "I will gather still others to him, besides those already gathered to him."

9All you beasts of the field, come and eat; yes, all you beasts in the forest.

10His watchmen are blind. They all know nothing. They are all dumb dogs; they cannot bark. They lie down sleeping, and they love to slumber.

11Yes, they are greedy dogs that can never have enough, and they are shepherds who cannot understand. They all turn to their own way, each one for his own gain, from every side.

12"Come," they say, "I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink. And tomorrow will be like today, and even better."
