The burden of Moab. In the night Ar of Moab is destroyed and brought to silence. In the night Kir of Moab is destroyed and brought to silence.
He has gone up to Bajith, and to Dibon, to the high places, to weep. Moab will wail over Nebo and over Medeba. Every head is shaved bald, and every beard is cut off.
In their streets they put on sackcloth. On the roofs of their houses and in their streets everyone wails, weeping without end.
Heshbon will cry out, and Elealeh too. Their voice is heard as far as Jahaz. So the armed soldiers of Moab cry out. His life is bitter to him.
My heart cries out for Moab. Those who run from it flee to Zoar, like a three-year-old cow. They go up the slope of Luhith weeping. On the road to Horonaim they raise a cry of destruction.
The waters of Nimrim will be dried up. The hay is withered, the grass is gone, and there is nothing green.
So the riches they have gained, and all they have stored up, they will carry away to the brook of the willows.
The cry has gone all around the borders of Moab. Its wailing reaches to Eglaim, and its wailing to Beerelim.
The waters of Dimon will be full of blood. I will bring still more on Dimon: lions on those of Moab who escape, and on the remnant of the land.
